Organic Flowers!
Did you get flowers for Mother’s Day this year? Ever wonder how many chemicals it takes to make those perfect bouquets? Hmmm…probably a lot! After I started thinking about it, I told my husband NOT to buy me flowers for Mother’s Day, BUT I found a place online to order organic flowers!! Yahhoo flowers without all the icky chemicals! A beautiful bouquet without the guilt. Check it out!

Happybaby Happybellies
I’ve been trying to introduce food to Madeleine on and off for the last 3 months. She’ll be 9months this week (they weren’t kidding when they said it would fly by!) and so far has shown very little interest in food. I haven’t pushed her. I just keep trying to see if she’s interested. I’ve tried all kinds of stuff like apples, pears, mango, banana, carrots, avocado, rice cereal and even the occasional teething cookie-all organic of course. A couple of times she sort of liked apples and once she was fairly interested in avocados. I’ve had a container of Happybaby Happybellies Oatmeal Cereal in my cabinet for about a month (because I thought it would be better to start with fruits and veggies first) and tonight I went for it.
Well…Madeleine practically jumped out of the highchair trying to get more after the first bite! She was kicking her little feet, squealing with happiness and diving towards me with her little mouth open. I’m not making this up. She has seriously not shown this much interest in food before. She LOVED it and I’m trilled because I feel really good about the quality of the cereal. Here is a little about it….
Happybaby is a new line of healthy organic baby food which is supported by the well known & trusted Dr. Sears. The products are all natural, all organic, allergen friendly and a portion of the profits go to a charity called Project Peanut Butter which provides meals to children in Malawi. Wait it gets better…the cereal, Happybellies, has probiotic in it! Here is what Dr Sears has to say about that… Continue reading »

Baby Gap gets Green!
Yes…even Baby Gap has organic cotton clothing, bedding and bibs now! It seems that the organic cotton line is exclusively online right now, but at least they are making an effort to become more environmentally conscious! I’m really in love with their safari sheets (they come in blue and pink version!).
Some of the organic clothes are just adorable like this velour hoodie!

Currently, the line of organic cotton products is small, but I’m sure as more people start becoming aware of the benefits (for baby and the environment!) of buying organic cotton the demand will increase and more products will become available!

Thank you Angel Baby Bottom Balm!
This stuff is great! Madeleine has been battling diaper rash lately and Angel Baby Bottom Balm has definitely been helping. I feel really good about using it too since I know it’s really high quality stuff (all their stuff is phthalate free). This is Earth Mama’s best selling salve which no only helps heal existing diaper rash and protects against flare ups, but also soothes itchy cradle cap, bug bites, scrapes, chicken pox, minor rashes, burns and, yes, scrapes too.
Angel Baby Bottom Balm is vegan (no beeswax!) and the only balm made with organic olive oil infused with a proprietary blend of organic herbs, shea butter and naturally antibacterial and antifungal essential oils. They refer to it as mama’s miracle balm.
I really love the smell of it. It gives me that same “I want to curl up with a cup of herbal tea” feeling that I get when I shop at Whole Foods. When I use it on her she smells like fresh lavender. My sister picked her up the other day and said, “you smell so good”…little did she know the scent was coming from her diaper!

Celebrity Moms Go Green!
All the sudden we are being bombarded with green celebrity news. Green moms in Hollywood seem to be a hot topic…Jessica Alba is doing eco-friendly renovations on her house and recycles everything….Halle Berry, Jennifer Garner, Brooke Shields and Jenna Elfman dress their little ones Baby Soy clothing
….Maggie Gyllenhaal uses organic cloth diapers, People is reporting that Gwen Stefani buys Nature’s Gate organic baby wash, E News recently reported that Julia Roberts (who also grows organic veggie), Kate Hudson and Courtney Cox are all using Nature’s Baby and California Baby products.
The news is everywhere (who knows which of it is even true!) and I think it’s GREAT! I’m so glad that the “popular girls in the class” are making it cool to go green! Good for them! I’m thankful the media is picking up on this stuff and reporting about it. A lot of people would say the reason they’re going green is because they have the money to buy the products. Well… yes, I agree that going green can be more expensive, but it’s really not an all or nothing kind of thing. All the little green changes we make really do add up. Taking one less paper napkin, bringing cloth bags to the supermarket, buying organic when you can, reading the labels on personal products and buying less toxic cleaning products are little things we can all do which make a huge positive impact on our families health as well as the environment! Go Green(er)!
